Greenpeace's Newest Campaign Highlights the Permanence of Plastic

Greenpeace's Plastic is Back! initiative includes vintage-style and a plastic pop-up in Amsterdam that showcases plastic that has been around for decades. This campaign brings attention to the plastic crisis in a novel way by focusing on plastic products that were thrown out more than 60 years ago yet recently made a return to beaches.

Everything from old potato chip packaging and yogurt containers to cleaning supplies are the subject of this new Greenpeace campaign, and dishearteningly, the packaging is mostly intact. The bar codes on the packaging designs were replaced with QR codes that serve the purpose of directing people to a donation page to support Greenpeace’s efforts to fight plastic pollution.

The vintage-inspired outdoor posters are accompanied by a documentary-style film that emphasizes the enduring nature of plastic.
