Andrés Jaque & Miguel Mesa del Castillo Design the Rambla Climate-House
Amy Duong — January 14, 2023Spanish architects Andrés Jaque and Miguel Mesa del Castillo design the Rambla Climate-House, which is a climate-conscious home that is designed to restore the ecology of the site resting along the outskirts of Murcia. It sits on top of a wild landscape raised on stilts designed to preserve the soil humidity of the location. The project came to fruition when Mesa des Castillo was tapped to build a family home for his brother and sister-in-law.
He taps Jaque and New York-based design studio Office for Political Innovation to explore the sustainable angle. The studio notes that "The Rambla Climate-House works as a climatic and ecological device. [It] collects pooled rainfall from its roofs and grey water from its showers and sinks, to spray onto the rambla's remains and regenerate their former ecologic and climatic constitution."
