Energy-Generating Rooftop Gardens
This Urban Garden Promotes an Eco-Friendly Lifestyle
Katherine Pendrill — October 28, 2015'Jewel Box' is a sustainable rooftop garden that promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle. In many cities, urban rooftops are under-utilized spaces. This sustainable living space demonstrates a clever way to put urban rooftops to good use.
Jewel Box was designed by the New York-based design firm 'Clear Studios.' The garden is designed as a "balanced living space" and includes all the amenities needed to live an eco-friendly lifestyle. The 1,400 square-foot space is made from recycled materials such as old wine bottles and reclaimed windows. The space features a small shelter for sleeping and a separate area for work. The area is intended to be self-sufficient, meaning the space is designed for energy generation, food production and water collection.
The Jewel Box ultimately promotes a sustainable lifestyle and eco-friendly construction methods.
