The transformation of the century-old glasshouse from Copenhagen Botanical Gardens into the Væksthuset climate classroom by architecture studio Forma is a noteworthy example of historic preservation and adaptive reuse. At its core, the project emphasizes sustainability and community engagement while creating a breathtaking ambiance for those enjoying the structure both inside and outside.
Væksthuset is located within BaneGaarden, an urban farm and food venue. Shifting to a climate classroom—where visitors can learn about eco-conscious practices and agriculture, showcases a growing commitment to establishing educational space where environmental awareness can flourish. Additionally, the space can double as an event venue and workshop area that can further enhance the experience of the local community.
