We can afford it

Inspired by the principles of sustainability, nature and the architecture of the Mazahuas people — "a pre-hispanic culture, living in Valle de Bravo," Mexico City-based firm Taller de Arquitectura de Alto Rendimiento built a fully self-sustaining research center. Due to its smart design and structure, which is "built from a mixture of natural and recycled materials," the building is able to generate its own energy and produce zero waste. In addition, Taller de Arquitectura de Alto Rendimiento's structure is able to harvest rainwater and its stony exterior allows for an accurate thermal insulation.

The self-sustaining research center also enjoys a man-made Wetland-inspired environment that accurately brings out the style and eco-friendly attitude of Taller de Arquitectura de Alto Rendimiento's design.
