Sustainable Prefab Homes
This Home Was Made Using Only Recyclable and Reusable Materials
Ellen Smith — May 11, 2017Arup associates have designed a sustainable prefab home using recycled, reusable and sustainably sourced materials. The home, which only took two weeks to create, was designed as a prototype to be exhibited at the annual London Design Festival.
The house was created with SIPS panels and steel structural frames which are demountable, allowing for an easy, yet structurally sound build, with the possibility of easily added extensions in future renditions. Everything in the home, from the pillars to the carpets and light fixtures are made from sustainable, reusable or recycled materiel.
The prototype home visually revealed that sustainable architecture can co-exist with modern design and speaks to a generation that is creating a demand for businesses to conceive environmentally responsible designs and strategies.
