Atelier Kaiser Shen Design a Sustainable & Clean Home in a German Village
Kalin Ned — May 2, 2023Atelier Kaiser Shen designs a minimalist and sustainable German home called Haus Hoinka. The structure is located in a little village that is currently being revitalized and re-populated. The village is full of structures from the 16th and 17th centuries and hence, this aesthetic was a key driving force for the architecture firm.
Sustainability was a key pillar for the design of Haus Hoinka. Atelier Kaiser Shen used " natural and renewable materials that can be released into the natural cycle once again later." Interestingly enough, the architecture firm opted for straw bales and clay plaster—the former was used as the main framework for the sustainable German home while the latter was employed as a "thermal envelope for the floors, roof, walls, and ceiling."
