Chipotle Mexican Grill has invested in two aquaculture companies called CH4 Global and Plantible, aiming to help these organizations address common issues in food production and environmental conservation. Specifically, this partnership will hone in on potential solutions for cattle farming, an industry that significantly contributes to climate change.

Both organizations bring unique aspects to the partnership. On one hand, CH4 Global champions its Methane Tamer, which reduced cattle methane emissions by up to 90 percent. Meanwhile, Plantible's solutions include harnessing Lemna, or duckweed, to produce a plant protein called Rubi Protein.

"Investing in a like-minded venture that strives to transform the global food supply could help the entire industry unlock new opportunities for plant-based menu offerings," commented Curt Garner, chief customer and technology officer at Chipotle.
