Guinness is Introducing Zero-Emissions Trucks for Shipping
Michael Hemsworth — January 14, 2022Beer brand Guinness has announced plans to incorporate zero-emissions trucks into its shipment fleet starting this summer to help reduce its emissions related to getting its signature product around Ireland.
The Diageo-owned brand will be adding in four emissions-free trucks starting later this year that will come as part of a multi-year plan to curb emissions. The company will continue transitioning its fleet to make 70% of it emissions-free by the end of 2025 with a final goal of 100% by 2030.
Managing Director at Diego Ireland Barry O'Sullivan commented on the introduction of zero-emissions trucks saying, "We’re really pleased to announce that we will be introducing the first zero-emission vehicles into our ‘Quality’ fleet from this summer. We are committed to reducing our indirect emissions through this initiative and want to play a key role for sustainable transport in the commercial sector in Ireland. We are only 263 years into our 9,000-year lease on the St James’s Gate Brewery and we are in it for the long haul — for our people, our products and our planet, and we will never settle in pursuit of a better, more sustainable future for everyone."
