Massive Zero-Emissions Trucks

First Mode's New Mining Truck is Supposedly More Sustainable

The need for a zero-emissions truck is of paramount importance, considering the amount of pollution a vehicle like that creates. It is even more alarming when you consider heavy-duty trucks like the ones used for mining by companies like Anglo American (considered to be a mining giant). Apparently, such vehicles are "unimaginably huge—between two and three stories high and more than 50 feet long." It is estimated that a truck like that "emits as much pollution in a year as 700 cars."

So, the quest for a zero-emissions truck for mining purposes was underway, taken up by the engineering startup First Mode which began testing its prototype with Anglo American. The design features a battery and hydrogen fuel cells.
