General Motors has collaborated with Japanese company Komatsu in order to power the latter's mining trucks, specifically utilizing fuel cell technologies in order to create a vehicle that is a more sustainable version of the 930 E truck.

Currently in prototype form, this mining truck is set to be tested in Arizona over the coming years, with the aim of ultimately better leveraging hydrogen fuel cell technology in electric mining truck applications.

Dan Funcannon, vice-president and general manager of mining over at Komatsu, stated that Komatsu's commitment to sustainability necessitates that it continually look for new and more eco-friendly ways to power mining and construction equipment. "This is essential work that requires cross-industry collaboration, and we are excited to be working with GM on this important solution for a haulage offering without tailpipe emissions," said Funcannon.
