Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering is revolutionizing the shipping industry with their new eco-friendly Triple-E Cargo Ship. The Triple-E Cargo Ship is designed to hold more cargo than current ships while cutting emissions by 20%.
The Triple-E Cargo Ship holds is set to be slower than its competitors and slightly more expensive to build. Despite its costs and shortcomings the Daewoo's new cargo ship has gotten a warm reception from Danish shipping giant Maersk, which has already put in an order for ten of the ships.
Hybrid cars get all of the media attention, but it is hybrid cargo ships that could do the most to help reduce environmental pollution. Shipping companies using the Triple-E Cargo Ship would get positive press in addition to saving money on fuel costs. Nowadays it seems like the shipping industry doesn't get much media coverage unless a ship is hijacked or sinks. Hopefully Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering can change all of that.
