As part of Sony's 'Road to Zero' sustainability efforts, the electronics and entertainment company announced its deployment of L-shaped packaging for the Sony Sound Bar range. Rather than employing traditional rectangular boxes to ship the Sound Bars, Sony pivoted to the L-shaped packaging to effectively accommodate the unique shapes of the lengthy speaker and squared subwoofer. The new packaging makes much more efficient use of space which in turn allows Sony to ship more products per pallet. This process cuts down on the carbon costs of the shipping process by approximately 15%.

The L-shaped packaging is just one of many sustainability initiatives that the company is planning and implementing. To reduce the use of virgin plastics, Sony now integrates recycled plastics into the construction of some of its products. These eco-friendly efforts will help create a circular economy and help the company reach its green goals.
