Sustainable Transit Solution Expansions

NFI Group Inc., through its subsidiary New Flyer, has secured two significant orders from the Maryland Transit Administration for a total of 117 low- and zero-emission buses, which further cements the company's role as a leader in sustainable transit solutions.

The orders include 87 hybrid-electric buses and 30 battery-electric buses, with the latter comprising both 40-foot and 60-foot models from the Xcelsior CHARGE NG™ series. These vehicles are built on New Flyer’s proven Xcelsior platform and offer a high degree of parts and service commonality. The hybrid-electric buses provide an immediate reduction in emissions, while the battery-electric models support the agency’s long-term sustainability goals.

Public transit users and environmentally conscious communities would find this development highly compelling as it represents a significant step toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in the Baltimore metropolitan area, which sees over 75 million passenger trips annually.
