Drone-Powered Plastic Waste Clean-Ups
Coca-Cola & Pollution Probe Partner for the Planet
Kalin Ned — September 27, 2024The Coca-Cola Company Canada has partnered with the environmental organization Pollution Probe to launch an innovative initiative aimed at cleaning plastic waste from the Great Lakes. This collaboration introduces PixieDrone technology, a remote-controlled device designed to collect and remove plastic debris from the water. PixieDrone is expected to also provide valuable data on pollution in the Great Lakes. It has already been tested on Lake Simcoe and will expand to other areas in the region.
The Coca-Cola x Pollution Probe project is part of the larger Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup, an effort involving over 150 sites across the region, which seeks to address the growing issue of plastic pollution in North America's largest freshwater system. This initiative aligns with Coca-Cola’s broader environmental commitment, particularly through its 'World Without Waste' program, which focuses on reducing plastic waste through technology and recycling.
