Industrial Wastewater Clean-Ups

Industrial wastewater clean-up is "one of the lesser-known sources of climate emissions" and brands like Aquacycl are attempting to provide sustainable solutions.

Aquacycl is working with PepsiCo to clean up contaminated water before it goes down the drain. Actually, in some cases, the water can be reused too. The ground-breaking technology is located in a shipping container next to the beverage giant's bottling plant in Fresno, California. The innovation is completely modular and the shipping container is full of microbial fuel cells (with "natural, locally sourced bacteria") that work to break down contaminants. The whole industrial wastewater clean-up system is flexible as it can be "sized up or down depending on the volume of wastewater." The compact system is essential for Aquacycl's success as "everybody who’s tried to do this before has just tried to do bigger tanks and bigger electrodes."
