This circular economy initiative comes from a New York-based brewery that is using its waste to feed on-site fish farms. Reducing waste has become a focus for many businesses, from zero-packaging grocery stores in Devon, England to upcycled designer swimwear. Five & 20 Spirits and Brewing is not just trying to find a more productive use for their waste, they are also offering customers the opportunity to enjoy fresh fish with their favorite beverage.

Based in Westfield, New York, the grain to glass facility partnered with fish farm startup TimberFish Technologies for this circular economy initiative. The new fish farms could also provide people nearby with a local seafood alternative, not to mention local food jobs. The fish could be sold directly to consumers, or to restaurants and markets in the community.
