Finland-based Hailia has announced it will transform the use of fish byproducts in the industry by maximizing their functionality when it comes to both household cooking occasions and commercial uses. The initiative will include a greater utilization of the byproducts to redirect them from lower-value applications to ones where they can be better put to work. The move by the brand could help to greatly reduce waste, combat against overfishing and much more, which comes as one of a growing number of solutions being developed to curb food waste and satisfy demand simultaneously.

Managing Director Michaela Lindström spoke on the fish byproducts initiative saying, "More food that is healthy for people and the planet can be produced with what we already have. Considering the planetary limitations, a lot could already be achieved if we primarily adopted resource-conscious practices. Fortunately, this opens immense opportunities in profitability too… With our innovative process, we can efficiently capture all that is suitable for food production.”
