Following its successful launch in the United States, the Upcycled Food Association is expanding its certification program to Canada. Canadian companies can now apply for the official Upcycled Certified title through the Upcycled Food Association (UFA).

Part of the UFA's expansion includes a partnership with Anthesis Provision, Guelph-Wellington'sCircular Opportunity Innovation Louchpad (COIL), a circular business accelerator, to expand the company's reach. Thus far, over 200 products and ingredients in the United States have already been Upcycled Certified. The program's Canadian expansion will help consumers identify which products in the food, beverage, cosmetic, companion pet food, home care, and cleaning products they buy include certified upcycled ingredients.

David Messer, manager of COIL, expresses that "as part of this commitment to a new way of thinking about food and drink, we are excited to support the expansion of the Upcycled Certified Program and to champion the impact that it can have in growing the circular food economy in our region and beyond."
