Cosmetic Brands Can Now Become Upcycled Certified by the UFA

The Upcycled Food Association (UFA) began its Upcycled Certified program for cosmetic brands. Consumer beauty brands can officially highlight their use of waste-stream and upcycled ingredients with the UFA certification seal. Established in 2019, the UFA is a nonprofit trade association. Its goal is to create a viable economy for upcycled food waste.
A series of steps are implemented to achieve the new Upcycled Certified seal. First, the program requires an initial online application. From there, Where Food Comes From, a third-party verification company, coordinates remaining details with the applicant. The program aims to reduce food waste through transparent and sustainable production processes. Eligible brands can now apply for their Upcycled Certified seals to contribute to the fight against climate change.
