Water-Filtering Floor Bricks

AquiPor is Creating Porous Bricks that Filter Rainwater

AquiPor is a United States-based startup that aims to solve the circular rainwater problem in urban areas. In the countryside, rainwater engages in its standard cycle of feeding nature before evaporating, turning into clouds, and repeating this process. However, in the city, rainwater is often lost to dense brick-filled areas, causing polluting and unfit drinking water to enter the cycle.

AquiPor is addressing this issue by creating bricks out of its own patented, proprietary technology. The resulting bricks are dense and reliable, similar to a concrete brick, but are also porous enough to allow rainwater to flow through the brick to the ground below. This process also passively filters out pollution, effectively capturing the harmful chemicals in the brick itself. AquiPor stated that its proprietary bricks can act as a direct replacement to existing curbs, gutters, and roadworks, as the item is just as reliable as concrete, if not stronger than concrete.

Lastly, AquiPor's bricks are eco-conscious, as it sources a large number of the materials from other industries' leftovers, resulting in a sustainable, scalable solution to city rainwater pollution.
