Garbage-Collecting Aquatic Robots

Open Ocean Engineering, a startup company based in Hong Kong, has launched a high-tech aquatic robot that is designed to make a real and clear contribution to the hugely pressing challenge of removing garbage from water bodies of all kinds.

Aptly dubbed the Clearbot, this aquatic robot is capable of trawling a specifically programmed area using geo-fencing technology, or can use its embedded computer vision capabilities to detect and retrieve pieces of trash. Once garbage is collected by the Clearbot, it is collected in a spill-proof receptacle, with a conveyor belt system ensuring the streamlined collection of litter and debri.

Available for rent at around $3,000 per month, this aquatic robot is a fine solution for companies and municipalities that are seeking a way to clear their local waterways.
