Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is introducing Oscar, the airport's new AI waste-sorting technology. When an airport guest intends to dispose of an item, they can now present it to the camera for analysis by Oscar, who then guides the guest to the appropriate bin for disposal. Designed to enhance waste management practices, Oscar utilizes advanced AI capabilities to assist visitors in accurately sorting their waste.

Oscar devices are now stationed at various locations within Seattle, including the Bell Harbor Conference Center and Pier 66 in the Norwegian Cruise Lines Terminal.

“[...] We know that individuals come to our gateways from all around the world and they might have different waste bins or rules, so Oscar will help inform them on how to sort here," said Port of Seattle Senior Director Environment and Sustainability Sandra Kilroy.
