Aldi has recently debuted the eco2Veritas AI-powered system, a cutting-edge initiative developed in collaboration with Greenback Recycling Technologies. As a result of this collaboration, Aldi is poised to revolutionize the tracking and certification of flexible plastic packaging collected from its front-of-store collection points.

This advanced system offers comprehensive insights into the sorting process of flexible plastics, detailing the specific polymers they comprise and their subsequent reprocessing into various end products.

As the AI system meticulously certifies the incoming flexible plastic materials, Aldi stands to gain financial support through the Flexible Plastic Fund (FPF). This funding mechanism rewards organizations committed to sustainable initiatives, providing incentives for responsible plastic management practices.

“We are committed to tackling plastic waste. We know this is an issue that matters to our customers too, which is why we’re working with the Flexible Plastic Fund to further improve the recycling of flexible plastics collected in our stores,” said Luke Emery, Aldi UK packaging director.
