Parkside and Iceland have partnered on new packaging to replace the LDPE bag used for the UK supermarket chain's Northcoast frozen seafood range that's focused on recyclability.

The packaging is designed with a paper-made composition that is capable of resisting exposure to the frost and moisture within a freezer. The packaging is thus a success with water-based coatings that can be re-pulped down when recycled via paper recycling programs. The paper pouch is also resistant to both oil and grease.

Packaging Specialist at Iceland Mark Armstrong commented on the Parkside and Iceland packaging saying, "Bag sealing was a challenge, as was ensuring the material had the necessary barrier properties. We also wanted the print to match the existing LDPE bag, and therefore, a lot of time was spent in artwork and repro to give us the best possible result.”
