Sustainable Frozen Food Packaging

Consumer packaging manufacturer Walki has announced that it will be expanding its portfolio of recyclable packaging solutions. According to the company, the decision comes as a result of the increasing demand for frozen food, which is expected to grow by $322 billion before 2026.

The new products Walki plans to introduce utilize printed materials that are tough enough to suit the needs of frozen food packaging, while also being 100% recyclable in the paper stream. Specifc materials inlcude the WalkiEVO Seal, which is an eco-friendly solution for pillow-ouches fgor frozen foods.

“The dispersion coating makes WalkiEVO Seal recyclable in the waste-paper stream without any separation process, while the minimized PE-coating on WalkiOpti Seal makes it suitable to be recycled with paper with an acceptable fibre yield," said Andreas Rothschink, the Head of Product Development at Walki.
