Partially Upcycled Fashion
Zara's CFDA Partnership Shares Designs That are Part Vintage & Part New
Laura McQuarrie — December 14, 2020Zara announced a partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers in America (CFDA) and challenged four designers to create an outfit that's one part "vintage" upcycled fashion and one part new. Using old Zara Join Life collections, the designers upcycled pieces and created new garments that adhere to Zara’s Join Life standards. In all, nine pieces were created, including a tie-dye slip dress by Alejandra Alonso Rojas, a layered pink three-piece linen suit by Private Policy and a patchwork linen trench coat by Barragán.
At a time when most people are spending the majority of their time at home, they may not have the need to refresh their seasonal wardrobe. This challenge has the potential to help people see the pieces that they already own in a new light.
