Taylor Stitch's 'Reenvisioned Essentials' Upcycles Surplus Stock
Laura McQuarrie — August 5, 2021Men's apparel brand Taylor Stitch collaborated with Atelier and Repairs to give new life to excess inventory with a collection called Reenvisioned Essentials. This collaboration is focused on upcycling surplus stock, specifically, the brand's Jack oxford shirt in white and blue and cotton chinos in khaki, navy and olive. By working with Atelier and Repairs, the pieces are embellished with damaged, deadstock or discarded garments and materials, and then they are softened in the wash to create a garment that feels vintage. The Taylor Stitch x Atelier and Repairs pieces feature special pops of color and prints, thanks to the use of repurposed archival fabrics. Rather than sitting on stock that simply isn't moving, more brands in the fashion industry may adopt this practice of creating completely new designs with unique and in-demand features.
