Saudi Arabia Launched a Green Tech Development Fund
Colin Smith — December 4, 2024The Sustainable Innovation Fellowship Programme, launched by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, aims to advance sustainable technologies and environmental solutions. Funded by the Environment Fund and the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority, the program focuses on repurposing by-products from water treatment, developing technologies for recycling water treatment membranes, and identifying methods to reuse treated wastewater in arid and desert regions. Additionally, the fellowship will assess the environmental impact of microplastics in water treatment plants, sewage systems, and wastewater.
Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the program seeks to diversify the economy away from oil and promote sustainable development. The fellowship encourages innovative approaches to environmental challenges, supporting researchers and innovators in their efforts to create eco-friendly solutions. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, the program aims to contribute to global sustainability goals and enhance Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in green technology.
The Sustainable Innovation Fellowship Programme also introduces new e-services designed to meet international standards, further supporting the country's commitment to environmental stewardship.
