Solving global warming takes more than just trees

Qatar Foundation (QF) has officially launched Green Island, a pioneering recycling hub, to advance eco-friendly living and sustainability practices. The launch is strategically timed to coincide with the start of Qatar Sustainability Week 2024, which commenced on September 28, 2024.

Located within QF’s Education City, Green Island is a community-focused recycling center designed to engage the public through a combination of educational exhibits, hands-on workshops, and interactive displays. These features provide visitors with practical learning opportunities related to recycling and sustainability. Additionally, the hub includes a self-service recycling station for the responsible disposal of paper, plastic, glass, metals, batteries, cables, and electronics.

A core focus of Green Island is its educational mission, which aims to foster environmental awareness and cultivate future sustainability leaders. Schools are encouraged to participate in organized field trips to the hub, which offer students valuable insights into recycling processes and sustainable practices.
