Sustainable Cocoa Farming Initiatives

Lake Champlain Chocolates Partners with Fair Trade USA

Lake Champlain Chocolates has partnered with Fair Trade USA to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at supporting sustainable cocoa farming practices through its Fair Trade Microgrant program. In 2025, Lake Champlain Chocolates will donate 1% of sales from its Fair Trade Certified™ Signature Bars to two Peruvian farming cooperatives — Cooperativa Agraria Granos de Oro Del Valle de Pangoa and Aprovraem Café Y Cacao. These funds will support agroforestry projects, including the planting of over 46,000 trees, to combat the adverse effects of climate change, restore biodiversity, and conserve water resources in these communities. The sustainable cocoa farming initiative also addresses critical challenges faced by cocoa farmers, such as disease, drought, and unfair labor practices, which have contributed to rising chocolate prices and supply shortages.
