July 7th marks World Chocolate Day, and Smarties wants to celebrate sustainably with a package revamp. The well-known and loved chocolate brand is now packaging its delicious treats in sustainably sourced paper. As humanity's environmental impact continues to hinder natural ecosystems, Smarties is doing its part by eliminating 26 tonnes of plastic from Canadian landfills each year.

The switch to paper packaging is part of the brand's devotion to retaining Canada's beautiful landscapes. The paper used for the new packaging is sustainably sourced and certified by third-party organizations, including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). While the chocolate company embarks on a new packaging journey, the iconic Smarties treat remains the same, proudly made in Canada with sustainably sourced cocoa.
