Liverpool Football Club (LFC) has partnered with 1PointFive, a carbon capture leader specializing in Direct Air Capture technology (DAC), to introduce exclusive Reds’ supporters merchandise aimed at reducing the club's environmental impact. The collaboration guarantees that carbon emissions associated with each product are directly addressed through 1PointFive's cutting-edge DAC technology, making a meaningful contribution to both companies' sustainability efforts. Fans will also be able to learn more about the new products in the coming months, with the official launch set for CERAWeek in Texas.

Once their merchandise is produced, LFC will calculate carbon emissions from its manufacturing process up to the distribution stage, followed by purchasing the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits from 1PointFive. This move ensures that the same amount of CO2 is extracted from the atmosphere and stored underground.

The collaboration is a significant move in LFC's sustainability efforts through The Red Way, its award-winning environmental initiative, showcasing how Direct Air Capture (DAC) can be tailored to meet specific organizational goals by addressing emissions at the product level. The partnership also stresses the importance of accurate carbon emissions tracking, which is key to understanding and addressing the true environmental impact of products.

Ben Latty, LFC’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the club's sustainability commitments which include goals to cut its operational emissions in half by 2030 and to reach net-zero status by 2040. Michael Avery, President and General Manager of 1PointFive, highlighted that the partnership with LFC aligns both organizations' sustainability goals, providing a model for using Direct Air Capture to reduce product emissions and help consumers make carbon-conscious decisions with a "measurable, transparent, and durable" solution.
