Recycled Football Kits
RE:FIBRE Tech is the Future of PUMA Football Jerseys
Laura McQuarrie — December 6, 2023PUMA is scaling up its textile recycling initiatives with RE:FIBRE technology set to replace all recycled polyester in PUMA football Club and Federation replica jerseys from 2024 onwards.
This innovation got its footing in 2022, when PUMA began producing recycled training jerseys for its sponsored football clubs. In 2023, RE:FIBRE technology was used to create Switzerland and Morocco replica kits for the Women’s World Cup as well as Girona’s 2023/24 season Third kit, and as of 2024, the official PUMA football replica jerseys—including those for the Euro and Copa América tournaments—will make the most of RE:FIBRE recycled materials.
Ultimately, the RE:FIBRE program challenges textile waste in the industry and reduces the reliance on clear plastic bottles for creating recycled polyester apparel by recycling existing football kits to create new ones.
