Stadium Food Carbon Labelling

As part of its Champions Innovate initiative, UEFA rolled out sustainability measures for its 2024 Champions League final at Wembley Stadium. Fans watching Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund had the chance to enjoy carbon-labelled food in seaweed packaging, showcasing UEFA’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

Partnering with UK startup My Emissions, UEFA displayed carbon labels on all concession boards and food trucks at the Champions Festival sites across London. The packaging, provided by Notpla, featured QR codes linking fans to environmental education pages.

This initiative extended My Emissions’ collaboration with Just Eat Takeaway and marked a step toward UEFA’s goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, a response to the organization's criticism for increasing emissions due to expanded tournament schedules in recent years.
