ExCeL London is taking a proactive step toward sustainable dining through a partnership with long-term catering partner Levy and food sustainability specialist Foodsteps. This tie-up is focused on measuring and sharing the carbon footprint of its culinary offerings. Leveraging detailed lifecycle analysis of ingredients and produce, Foodsteps will provide ExCeL and Levy with precise data on the environmental impact of each dish, from farm to plate.

This data will guide chefs in crafting lower-carbon recipes and empower visitors to make informed choices through a straightforward carbon labeling system. Dishes will be graded using a color-coded scale and an "A to E" rating, where "A" represents very low carbon impact and "E" denotes a very high footprint.

“Focusing on better data so our chefs and operational teams are informed, empowered, and recognised for the positive impact they can have in every single service, is what we’re trying to achieve together with Foodsteps,” said Levy’s business director and net-zero lead Kevin Watson.
