Oatly has launched a campaign in the UK calling for food and drink labels on products to improve transparency and help consumers make informed choices. The company urges the food industry, including dairy producers, to share their climate impact data and has offered free advertising space to companies willing to publish their full carbon footprint.

Oatly highlights that “the food sector is responsible for around one-third of the UK’s total emissions while the UK Government’s Climate Change Committee (CCC) recommends a 20% reduction in dairy consumption per person by 2030 to meet emissions targets.”

Oatly’s ‘Grey Paper’ argues that consumers already see similar information in other areas, such as energy ratings for homes and appliances. The campaign also points to strong public support for mandatory carbon labeling.
