The Goa State Amritkar Agriculture Policy 2024, recently approved by the state cabinet, aims to transform Goa's agricultural sector into a sustainable, modern, and inclusive pillar of the economy. The policy focuses on guaranteed livelihood security for farmers, the inclusion of women and youth in agriculture, and the promotion of exotic fruits like avocado and rambutan. It also includes legislative reforms to create a farmer-centric legal framework and simplifies government procedures for farmers.

Additionally, the policy emphasizes environmental sustainability by penalizing those who release sewage into agricultural fields and water bodies. It encourages integrated farming, organic and natural farming, and agro-tourism, aiming to preserve Goa's rich agricultural heritage while meeting the challenges of the 21st century. The policy was developed through extensive public consultation, involving over 3,750 suggestions from various stakeholders, ensuring a participatory and democratic approach to policy-making.
