NTT DOCOMO's Upcoming Building Will Run on 100% Renewable Energy

'NTT DOCOMO,' the Japanese mobile phone operator, has announced a new power purchase agreement (PPA) with 'NTT Anode Energy Corporation' (NTT AE). Through this PPA, DOCOMO will transform its Okayama building location to run on entirely renewable energy. This building houses network facilities for DOCOMO.

The largest supply of renewable energy for the Okayama building will come from a solar power plant being developed in Tottori City by NTT AE. This power plant will supply the Okayama building with energy via the public power transmission network. In the event that the power plan cannot sufficiently supply the Okayama building to its needs, NTT AE will purchase further non-fossil certificates for renewable energy in order to ensure the 100% renewable nature of the Okayama building.

This new collaborative effort is estimated to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of the building by 10,000 tons per year.
