Window Solar-Panel Hybrids

Ubiquitous Energy Has Developed See-Through Solar Energy Receivers
Colin Smith — January 17, 2022Ubiquitous Energy has developed a prototype of its energy-generating clear solar panels. These transparent solar panels double as building windows while simultaneously powering that same building. Through this invention, Ubiquitous Energy hopes to make large corporate buildings much more sustainable through a reliable, unintrusive renewable energy source.
While conventional dark-blue solar panels capture the majority of the energy from the light that touches it, Ubiquitous Energy's solar panels will only capture a specific portion of this spectrum. These clear panels work by allowing visible light to pass through, similar to a window while capturing the remainder of the light for power generation. These windows can connect to each other as well as to an external source. An example of a simple application of this external energy would be connecting the windows to the inside room's light source while a more expansive example would be to connect a chain of windows to the building's central battery supply, which could hypothetically power a lot of technology.
