Reusable Material Office Buildings
The MVRDV 'Matrix ONE' is Capable of Being Easily Demounted
Michael Hemsworth — May 30, 2023The MVRDV 'Matrix ONE' laboratory and office building has been completed by the Dutch design firm in Amsterdam as an eco-friendly structure that keeps end of life in mind. The stylish building is constructed with materials that are capable of being reused after dismantling and demounting of the structural system, which would greatly reduce the amount of waste heading to the landfill. It's reported that more than 90% of the building materials can be reused to give it a future-facing design that keeps the changing face of architecture in mind.
Partner Frans de Witte spoke on the MVRDV 'Matrix ONE' laboratory and office building saying, "The building is state-of-the-art now, but it also acknowledges that the state-of-the-art is constantly changing. So we made both the interior spaces and the technical installations that serve them as flexible as possible; offices can easily be modified to become labs and vice versa, and labs can be easily upgraded with new systems to accommodate changing standards."
