Commercial-Scale Seaweed Biorefineries

Cascadia Seaweed Addresses Biomass Production in Canada

Cascadia Seaweed, a prominent producer of seaweed-based agricultural products in North America, has successfully raised funds in its 'Series A' funding round. Notable investors, including WWF Impact, Vere Ventures, and other organizations, contributed to this milestone.

With this funding, the company plans to "advance its mission by constructing a commercial-scale seaweed biorefinery on Canada’s West Coast; Cascadia also aims to expand its seaweed cultivation efforts and increase the distribution of its biostimulants, liquid extracts, and livestock feed products." Based in British Columbia, Cascadia Seaweed prioritizes sustainable farming practices to enhance crop yields, boost livestock productivity, and reduce agricultural emissions.

In addition, the company collaborates closely with coastal First Nations, ensuring economic benefits flow to local communities. This partnership, combined with innovative cultivation techniques, underscores Cascadia’s commitment to balancing environmental stewardship with economic growth.
