Recycled Rubber Coalition Introduced the 'Better Play Initiative'

The Recycled Rubber Coalition has unveiled the 'Better Play Initiative,' a comprehensive national campaign aimed at educating community leaders about the safety, durability, and dependability of surfaces made from crumb rubber and other recycled rubber products.

Recycled rubber is used in numerous applications, contributing to "the diversion of approximately 220 million end-of-life tires from landfills annually." These recycled materials are commonly found in parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields, offering an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional surface materials.

As Stratton Kirton, Vice President of Government Affairs at Liberty Tire Recycling—a member of the Recycled Rubber Coalition—noted, "The Better Play Initiative provides essential resources to state and community leaders, empowering them to make informed decisions about the safety and accessibility of recreational spaces." He also highlighted that by incorporating recycled rubber, communities can foster safe, inclusive environments that encourage physical activity and healthy play.
