Pet-Focused Upcycling Retail Programs

In collaboration with global leader in recycling solutions TerraCycle, Petco has introduced an innovative national trade-in and recycling initiative for dog collars, leashes, and harnesses. The program aims to responsibly recycle old pet gear while offering customers a 40% discount on new, full-priced items.

The trade-in and recycling initiative is running from March 15 to March 29, 2025. It aligns with Global Recycling Day while encouraging pet owners to upgrade their pets’ accessories for improved safety and comfort. The event also features educational activities, such as in-store sessions on flea prevention and allergy support.

By participating in Petco and TerraCycle's eco-conscious program, consumers can ensure their worn-out gear is repurposed into products like plastic lumber, pet bedding, and sports equipment. This will effectively reduce landfill waste and promote environmental responsibility.
