Footwear Recycling Campaigns

Metro Brands Champions Unveils a Sustainability-Focused Initiative

Metro Brands has launched a new campaign to promote footwear recycling, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. The initiative aims to tackle the environmental impact of discarded shoes by encouraging consumers to recycle rather than dispose of them. Through its 'Old Discarded Footwear' (ODF) program, Metro Brands has significantly increased its recycling efforts, processing 47 lakh pairs in FY 2023-24, with a goal of matching every shoe sold with one recycled by FY 2024-25.

The campaign is centered around Kiaan, a young boy who chooses to recycle his well-worn shoes, illustrating how small actions can drive environmental change. Metro Brands’ initiative encourages consumers to rethink the lifecycle of their footwear, fostering a culture of sustainability within the industry. The company’s measurable progress highlights its leadership in reducing waste while maintaining high customer engagement.

As one of India’s largest footwear retailers, Metro Brands is proving that sustainability and business growth can go hand in hand. By expanding its ODF program, the company sets a precedent for responsible consumption and a greener future.
