Japanese design studio Honoka presents the new Tatami Refab Project exhibition at Designart Tokyo. It is comprised of a series of furniture and lighting that are made through a 3D printing process, to craft a material that is made using discarded Tatami mats. It features a new life of lampshades, tables, basins, plant holders, stools, lighting fixtures, and more.

All of these have a unique glow that is created from the material's translucency made from grass and resin. Honoka explains, "Honoka has developed a unique material by mixing biodegradable resin with Igusa grass, which is extracted from Japanese discarded Tatami mats. Using ExtraBold's large 3D printer, the project proposes furniture that re-weaves Tatami into modern life."
