Residential Solar Recycling Projects

SolarPanelRecycling.com and SEIA Launch an Initiative in NC

SolarPanelRecycling.com (SPR) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) have partnered with Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to launch a residential solar panel recycling initiative. This pilot program aims to establish accessible drop-off locations for end-of-life residential solar panels, providing a sustainable alternative to landfill disposal.

As interest in solar panel recycling grows, SEIA has collaborated with SPR, an approved national photovoltaic (PV) recycler, to leverage its existing collection infrastructure. North Carolina, "ranked fourth in national solar capacity, has been selected as the flagship state for this six-month pilot."

The program will generate key insights for SEIA, serving as a model for future municipal recycling initiatives nationwide. By expanding access to responsible solar panel disposal, the initiative supports sustainability and circular economy efforts in the renewable energy sector.
