County Prescription-Recycling Programs

The Osceola County Office of Sustainability Opens its Doors

The Osceola Council on Aging is officially implementing a new collaboration with the Osceola County Office of Sustainability to help reduce the amount of prescription drug waste on the streets. Through this initiative, consumers will be able to recycle their empty prescription and non-prescription bottles in designated bins across the county, provided they follow the recycling guidelines listed.

“We are leading innovation in local sustainability. This project has spurred regional interest with neighboring government agencies requesting information on our Prescription Pill Bottle Recycling Program,” said Paul J. Conover, a Project Manager, Osceola County Office of Sustainability.

This initiative comes after research found that a significant percentage of plastic waste comes from prescription bottles being discarded across the United States. The Osceola Board of County Commissioners is also calling on its partnering organizations to follow the new recycling guidelines.
