Greiner Packaging, Siegwerk and Krones have announced a new collaborative partnership that will showcase the capabilities in recycling facilities when it comes to direct-printed polypropylene and polystyrene (PS) cups. The process utilizes a hot caustic washing process to de-ink the containers and make them suited for recycling in white material lines. This is done without compromising the integrality of the ink formulation or the print design.

The recycling partnership between Greiner Packaging, Siegwerk and Krones identifies what can be done to make packaging recycling initiatives even more applicable for existing systems. The process is also suited for being adopted by recyclers who work with polyolefin and PS rigid streams to maximize what's possible within the existing infrastructure.
