Exercise Mat Recycling Initiatives

Manduka Unveiled a 'Yoga Mat Recycling Program'

Manduka, in partnership with SuperCircle, has introduced a groundbreaking 'yoga mat recycling program' aimed at reducing waste and promoting sustainability within the yoga community. This initiative allows customers to recycle any yoga mat, regardless of brand or condition, by sending it in with a prepaid shipping label. In return, participants receive a 20% discount on future Manduka purchases, encouraging engagement in eco-friendly practices.

Once received, the mats are carefully broken down into reusable components, reducing landfill waste. Mats that cannot be fully recycled are "repurposed for open-loop recycling, transforming them into products like rubber mats or resurfacing materials for construction projects."

Manduka’s CEO, Pamela Levine, highlighted the growing demand for sustainable solutions as yoga and meditation continue to gain popularity. Chloe Songer, CEO of SuperCircle, praised the partnership, noting "its significant contribution to their goal of diverting over one billion textiles from landfills by 2030." Overall, this program empowers individuals to make a positive environmental impact.
